Quality of service in dial-a-ride operations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Few studies have been conducted on the quality of service provided by the organizations responsible of providing dial-a-ride services for people with reduced mobility. In order to study quality in such contexts, the paper first defines what is meant by “quality” in the service sector. The difference between quality and satisfaction is then discussed, and the most well-known scales of measurement are introduced. After a brief review of the techniques and tools used in the service sector to improve quality, the notion of quality in dial-a-ride services is discussed more in depth. In particular, the dimensions and attributes of various scales of measurement used by researchers in dial-a-ride studies are reviewed. Finally, the impact on quality of various elements, like the size and type of organization and the operational rules used, are discussed.

A Distributed Approach for resolving a Stochastic Dial a Ride Problem with NSGA II
Transportation on demand does not stop facilitating our daily life. In fact, for 40 years the research has contributed to the resolution of the Dial a Ride Problem to improve the service offered to customers. In this research, we contributed to the resolution of a Stochastic Dial a Ride Problem while consider four problems that may inhibit the proper functioning of service Transport on Demand ,...
متن کاملThe Dynamic Dial-a-Ride Problem with Time Windows in a Competitive Multi-Company Environment Master’s Thesis
Door-to-door transportation for elderly and disabled people is for many governments an important instrument to increase the mobility of this group of people. Many issues arise in the implementation of such a system, which is often modeled as the Dynamic Dial-a-Ride System with Time Windows (DDARPTW). One of those issues is that taxi companies try to maximize their profit by combining as many ri...
متن کاملSolving a Dial-a-Ride Problem with a Hybrid Multi-objective Evolutionary Approach: Application to Demand Responsive Transport
Demand responsive transport allows customers to be carried to their destination as with a taxi service, provided that the customers are grouped in the same vehicles in order to reduce operational costs. This kind of service is related to the dial-a-ride problem. However, in order to improve the quality of service, demand responsive transport needs more flexibility. This paper tries to address t...
متن کاملA Branch-and-Cut Algorithm for the Dial-a-Ride Problem
In the dial-a-ride problem, users formulate requests for transportation from a specific origin to a specific destination. Transportation is carried out by vehicles providing a shared service. The problem consists of designing a set of minimum cost vehicle routes satisfying capacity, duration, time window, pairing, precedence and ride time constraints. This paper introduces a mixed-integer progr...
متن کاملAnalysis of the dial-a-ride problem of Hunsaker and Savelsbergh
Hunsaker and Savelsbergh [Operations Research Letters 30, 2002] discussed feasibility testing for a dial-a-ride problem under maximum wait time and maximum ride time constraints. We show that this feasibility test can be expressed as a shortest path problem in vertex-weighted interval graphs, which leads to a simple linear time algorithm.
